The Tremont House Offer New Extended Stay Option - The Tremont House opened its extended stay suites, The Quarters, to its first guests in February 2018. The Quarters (a $1.2 million project), located on 2311-2313 Mechanic in the 1858 Berlocher Building, offer king-sized beds, fully-furnished kitchens, and high-end furnishings for living and dining spaces in one and two-bedroom suites. Special amenities include a mini-bar, adjacent parking, room service, Wi-Fi, cable TV, access to Tremont Fitness Center and the Galvez pool. These suites are part of The Tremont House inventory and available for guests with stays from five days to a month-long or longer. Link to release.


Hotel Galvez offers Unique Family Experience Package - Wyndham Grand® is setting out to bring quality time back to vacations by launching a one-of-a-kind family program: Reconnected, a Wyndham Grand Family Experience. Unlike traditional hotel kids programs, Reconnected encourages families to create memories together - starting with putting down their phones - through a curated set of family activities including the exclusive, architect-designed ultimate in-room blanket fort. Hotel Galvez & Spa is a pilot hotel for this new family experience and the only hotel in Texas to participate. There is no additional cost to book the Reconnected package during the pilot period which runs through the end of 2018. Families that book the package will stay in the hotel's Parlor Suites which offer a king with a full-size sofa sleeper in the parlor for the kids. These rooms provide plenty of space to build a “blanket fort.” 


Upon check-in, guests will receive the Reconnected Kit including:• Lock Box – Guests receive a timed lock box for their mobile device(s) enabling them toset a timer for uninterrupted play.• Instax Camera – Guests can capture memories the “old-school” way with this instant,still camera.• Blanket Fort Kit – An exclusive kit and blueprint design by Wyndham Grand FortArchitect Ben Pell for creating the blanket fort of your dreams.• Backpack for Children – Kids receive a backpack stocked with goodies including TheNocturnals, a book that focuses on friendship and adventure, a shadow puppet how-to guide and flashlight for families to create their own adventures. Hotel Galvez to offer “Phone Free Spaces” in Fall - In connection with the Reconnected, a Wyndham Grand Family Experience, Hotel Galvez is designating “Phone Free Spaces” at the pool area and in the restaurant from Oct. 1 through Nov. 12. The hotel is identifying these “Phone Free Spaces” through signage to encourage guests to disconnect and reconnect during quality time and to promote the Reconnected experience. Wyndham has partnered with Yondr to provide lockable phone cases to secure phones and reduce the temptation. Link to release. 

Hotel Galvez Updates Suites in 2019 - Hotel Galvez & Spa is launching a complete refurbishment of its suites in early 2019. The hotel currently offers five one-bedroom and one two-bedroom suites on its seventh and eighth floors. After the renovation, suites will offer a new layout, furnishings and amenities.  

The Tremont House Expands Popular The Rooftop Bar - The Tremont House is home to Galveston's one and only Rooftop Bar. In January 2017, the hotel expanded this popular bar to offer 14 more seats for a total of 70 to help accommodate more guests during peak times when the bar's seats are often at a premium. The bar, open evenings daily (weather permitting), offers views of Galveston's historic downtown and harbor from the roof of the four-floor hotel. The bar received two 2017 “Best of the Island” Awards from Galveston.com for Best Cocktail Bar and Best Hotel Bar. Awards are determined by a popular vote and nomination. 

What the Hotels are Known For


Hotel Galvez Ghost Tour Dinners Always a Sellout - Fascinated by ghosts? Hotel Galvez & Spa invites guests to learn more about the paranormal during its monthly “Dinner with the Ghosts” tour and dinner event. During hotel's one-hour ghost tour, the Hotel Galvez concierge guides guests through the hotel's ghostly past using popular ghost hunting tools to conduct a paranormal investigation. Guests learn about the hotel's “Ghost Bride” and other reported strange occurrences. The tour is scheduled the second Wednesday and Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. and is followed by a three-course dinner at Galvez Bar & Grill at 7 p.m. The cost for the tour and dinner package is $60 per person (inclusive of tax and server gratuity). In addition to the tour and dinner event, the hotel also offers a “Dinner with the Ghosts” overnight package. During the month of October, tours are offered Tuesday through Friday with Friday only available as part of an overnight package. 


Hotel Galvez Hosts Annual City of Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration - Hotel Galvez & Spa hosts its annual Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 6:00 p.m. The City of Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration is an annual, free family event and marks the start of the official holiday season in Galveston and features performances from The Nutcracker, a hand bell choir and area carolers. The Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration begins with the arrival of Santa Claus by horse-drawn carriage, followed by the lighting of the hotel's 35-foot Christmas tree with a count-down led by Santa Claus and a city representative. Hotel Galvez Shares History through Hall of History, Free Audio Tour and Weekly Tours - Hotel Galvez & Spa shares its history through a permanent exhibit called the Hall of History. The Hall of History provides a brief history on the hotel and tourism in Galveston. 
Hotel Galvez also touts its history and ghost stories through a free multimedia tour app for iPhone and Android smartphones. The free app provides a 25-minute history tour and a 20-minute ghost tour with scrollable images, numeric keypad entry and a keyword search function. The tour was produced by Acoustiguide Inc. (Espro Acoustiguide Group). 


Additionally, the hotel is now offering weekly ghost and history tours. A 30-45 minute ghost tour is available Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 2 p.m. for $15/pp. This tour is only available to hotel guests. A 30-45 minute history tour is available Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The history tour is complimentary to overnight guests and $10/pp to the public. Both tours require advance reservations and should be made the day prior with the front desk. 


Tremont Shares History - The history of The Tremont House can be traced back to 1839 when the first hotel, located at the corner of Tremont and Postoffice streets opened. In celebration of this heritage, the hotel added a small history exhibit on three hotels bearing its name and the contributions of George and Cynthia Mitchell to its preservation and their role in restoring The Historic Strand District. The exhibit is free and open to the public. 

Harbor House Hotel and Marina Offers Bold Look - Harbor House Hotel and Marina, Galveston's only harbor view hotel, reopened Feb. 28, 2014, following a $1.7 million renovation with a bold new look and modern appointments. The hotel's 42 guest rooms offer an industrial yet warm feel with all new furniture, lighting, bedding, flooring, and bathrooms. Harbor House, which opened in 1993, is located at Pier 21®. Pier 21® has also undergone a major transformation over the last 20 years, and is now a waterfront entertainment and dining area offering five restaurants, three harbor excursions, Pier 21 Theater, and two museums. New to Pier 21 is Suntime Watersports' Cruise N Time Tour Boat. 

Renew Your Wedding Vows at Hotel Galvez - Hotel Galvez has been the top choice for couples for 100 years and in celebration of this tradition, the hotel hosts an annual wedding vow renewal ceremony in June. This historic hotel hosted its first group ceremony in conjunction with its centennial anniversary in 2011 and the hotel decided to make it an annual event. In celebration of the hotel's anniversary and the most popular month for weddings, Hotel Galvez invites couples to renew their vows during a mass ceremony on the hotel grounds on the second Saturday in June at 10 a.m. Couples have the option to stay for the weekend and enjoy a getaway package that includes champagne upon arrival and souvenir champagne glasses.
