In quest of the world's best beef, InterContinental Hong Kong's chefs are sourcing exclusive specialty beef from artisanal farms around the world, which are showcased bimonthly at the hotel's popular STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill.
If you're a beef lover you will not want to miss the latest discovery - Hadong Hanwoo Korean Beef, which will be available at THE STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill from November 8 – December 30.
If you find Wagyu too rich and marbled, yet don't enjoy lean meat, Hadong Hanwoo may be perfect beef for your palate.
Hadong Hanwoo is a special Korean breed of cows from the scenic Hadong area in the southern part of Korea. Hadong is known for its picturesque scenery, green tea and pine needles. Hundreds of years ago rows of pine trees were planted to block the wind and sand, forming one of the most beautiful pine groves in Korea.
1++ Hadong Hanwoo Korean Beef is a premium Korean beef raised in Hadong by a farming family with 100 experts with patented feed and technology. The Hanwoo cattle are fed a patented probiotic made with pine needles. The micro-organisms in the pine needles are ripened for seven days before minerals are added to create this patented feed in a special “micro-pine needle bacterium factory”.
Due to the small number of cattle available and the delicious flavour & texture of the meat, Hanwoo is considered a premium product and as such, is usually just eaten during celebrations and the festive season.
The quality of the beef is certified by the Hadong Korea Federation of Livestock Cooperatives (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation for Safe Korean Beef). All of its beef has a livestock product tracing system and carries the HACCP Safety Label from the very stringent Korean Food & Drug Administration The beef also has the seal of the Green Agriculture and Livestock Production Certification System – confirming that it is antibiotic-free.
STEAK HOUSE Chef Chiu Ming Chan has created a special Korean influenced menu showcasing Korean ingredients and various cuts of the premium 1++ Hadong Hanwoo Korean Beef:
