With just four weeks to go until WTM 2018, we would like to invite you to join Tourism Malaysia to hear about the latest developments throughout the destination. With regional participants from Sabah, Sarawak, Langkawi, Selangor, Pahang, Melaka, Johor, Terengganu and Penang as well as 40+ private sector representatives, the stand will be buzzing with activity. This year at WTM, Malaysia will be sharing new tourism strategies and introducing YB Tuan Mohamaddin bin Ketapi, the country's new Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture. Niche products such as eco-tourism and sustainable nature tourism will continue to be a key focus in 2019.

The election earlier this year marked a changing force in Malaysia's tourism strategy. The government is moving towards a more synergistic approach with the travel trade, in order to support the countries tourism growth strategy. Smart partnerships and collaborations with the private sector are key as Malaysia strives towards its 2020 goal of welcoming a total of 36 million tourists and registering RM168 billion in tourist receipts. Come and meet the new Tourism Minister and find out more about the 2019 tourism growth strategy.

Kate Humble- Wildlife Writer and Broadcaster

Kate will be able to provide soundbites on Malaysia ahead of the press conference. Please book a slot if interested, as only pre-arranged interviews will be permitted. Slots will be restricted to 5 minutes. Kate will not be able to talk after the conference as she needs to leave for a prior engagement.

Tourism Malaysia Pavilion- Grand Opening (Monday 5th November, 10 am, Stand AS700) 

Ribbon cutting ceremony with Malaysian dancers in traditional costume. Open to all.

Tourism Malaysia Trade Seminar (Tuesday 6th November, 10 am - 12 pm at SG 21)

Join Tourism Malaysia for a trade seminar packed with product updates and news from regional representatives, hotels and tour operators. Open to all.

Tourism Malaysia Press Conference on Eco-Tourism, featuring Guest Speaker, Kate Humble (Tuesday 6th November, 3 pm, Press Conference Theatre, International Media Centre (ME580))

Kate visited Malaysia in June 2018 on a wildlife expedition to Sabah. She was 'blown away' by the experience as she witnessed huge wildlife diversity, which she described as 'bonkers'! Come and hear about Kate's experience as she recalls her encounters with elephants, sun bears, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and the very rare yellow-throated martin. Representatives from Sabah will also be on hand to provide updates on conservation initiatives and eco-tourism.  Open to all media.
