Melbourne's favourite pizza institution, Ladro, is turning 15 and to help celebrate, the team are checking in to Grand Hyatt Melbourne with a short-term residency at the hotel's signature restaurant, Collins Kitchen.

Opening on Tuesday 18th September, “Ladro Checks In” will feature a specially curated Italian menu created together by the Ladro and Collins Kitchen culinary teams.

Along with the classic wood-fire pizza flavours that first put Ladro on the map, guests can also indulge in past Ladro favourites brought back for this limited time such as Pizza 4 Otto (bufala, speck, anchovies, dressed rocket) and Lazio (fior di latte, carciuga, parsley and lemon). Also on offer is Risotto Venere E Nettuno (black rice risotto with oyster cream, salmon, kingfish and tuna), pumpkin gnocchi and pappardelle goat ragu just to name a few. However, the stand out must-try new pizza is the Bianco E Nero. Meaning black and white in Italian, the black pizza base is made with activated charcoal and topped with burrata, San Danielle prosciutto, cherry tomatoes and dressed rocket.

Keeping true to its reputation for indulgent desserts, Collins Kitchen's famous dessert station will also be turned into a decadent “La Gelateria” bar with Sicilian cannoli, bomboloni Italian donuts and tiramisu all on the menu to provide the perfect sweet Italian finish to your meal.

“What better place to celebrate a 15 year anniversary than at Grand Hyatt Melbourne,” said Sean Kierce, Ladro co-owner. “At Ladro, we are known for our sustainability efforts and Grand Hyatt Melbourne holds the same ethical values as us. We both use the same Closed Loop recycling system, meaning all organic waste is broken down into compost, which we both then use and distribute to the local community.”

We are excited to temporarily host Ladro's third location here in the CBD. Not only do we share Melbourne's love affair for Ladro, but we also share a commitment to sustainable practice,” said Ilan Weil, General Manager, Grand Hyatt Melbourne. It's a great alignment in both a sustainability and culinary sense and we can't wait to see our wood-fire oven firing at full capacity.”

“Ladro Checks In” will be at Collins Kitchen until Thursday 29th November, 2018 with its menu available for lunch and dinner Monday-Friday and for dinner only on Saturday and Sunday.

Four wines on tap will also be available: Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Rose and Sangiovese.

About Ladro

In 2003, three friends, Sean Kierce, Ingrid Langtry and Rita Macali, took off on a road trip around Italy to discover and “steal” the best pizza recipes and bring them back to Melbourne. Soon after returning, on AFL Grand Final weekend in 2003, Ladro (meaning “thief” in Italian) opened on Gertrude St in Fitzroy. Its reputation as the best pizza in Melbourne soon saw customers needing to book three to six weeks in advance for a table. In 2010, Ladro TAP in Prahran opened to similar fanfare and introduced wine on tap. As forefront leaders in restaurant sustainability, Ladro continues to push the boundaries and inspire innovative sustainable and ethical business practice.
