Whether your beloved pooch is a lazy lapdog or high-energy hound, it deserves to stay in a luxury hotel when traveling with you. With National Dog Day just around the corner (August 26), The Red Carnation Hotel Collection would like to remind travelers that all 17 of our hotels are renowned for their pet-friendliness – we go above and beyond to make hotel stays memorable for both our four-legged guests and their human companions.
Our pet-friendly philosophy comes from the top – our founder and president, Beatrice Tollman, is a life-long dog lover and always travels with her golden dachshunds, Honey and Ansi. Staff in all our hotels in Palm Beach, London, Geneva, Guernsey, Ireland and South Africa reflect the same welcoming attitude and love of pets, and many of our properties even have their own pet mascots.
Here are a few special amenities and packages that your VIP (Very Important Pet) can expect at four of our hotels:
Doggy Afternoon Tea at The Egerton House Hotel, London: The five-star Egerton House Hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge offers a Doggy Afternoon Tea that was specially created for four-legged guests. Tea is served in the elegant Drawing Room and includes a pup-pleasing selection of treats such as chicken and beef meatloaf, homemade dog biscuits, doggy ice cream, and the new “Pawsecco” drink option. There's even a special chew toy to take home! Human guests can also enjoy their own afternoon tea, comprising a tempting assortment of delicate finger sandwiches, pastries and freshly baked scones with thick clotted cream and fruit preserves, accompanied by an extensive selection of JING teas and coffees. Doggy Afternoon Tea is priced at $32 per dog, and Traditional Afternoon Tea is priced from $57 per person.
Pups Stay in Jet-Set Style at The Chesterfield Palm Beach, Florida: Furry companions are treated like true members of the Palm Beach glitterati when they stay at The Chesterfield Palm Beach, a beautiful 1920s-era Italianate boutique hotel located in the heart of swank Palm Beach Island. Upon arrival pups are greeted with a welcome basket of toys and treats, and throughout their stay are spoiled with a special gourmet pet menu, plush doggy beds and grooming services. Outside the hotel pets can strut their stuff on Worth Avenue (the Rodeo Drive of Palm Beach), or take a stroll on the dog-friendly Palm Beach Lake Trail, which weaves its way between the coast and the famous mansions of Palm Beach. Rooms are priced from $157 per night, plus a $90 non-refundable pet fee.
A Country Escape for Your Pooch at Summer Lodge or The Acorn Inn, Dorset, UK: For dogs and owners seeking an escape in the idyllic English countryside, Red Carnation offers two charming hotels in the lovely Dorset town of Evershot. Both offer easy access to wonderful places to walk your furry friend, including a stunning 400-acre deer park at the bottom of the village, and countless footpaths over fields and hills in every direction. Guests at Summer Lodge Country House Hotel, Restaurant and Spa can take advantage of the 'Pampered Pooch' Package any time of year, which includes accommodation in a beautifully appointed room or suite, full English breakfast daily, dog beds (available in three sizes), food and water bowls with floor mat, a 'Dog in Room' door hanger sign, 'Woof' towels to dry your four-legged friend, and a dog menu from Lily's Kitchen. At The Acorn Inn, canine guests are welcome in almost all areas of the hotel. In the rooms they'll find a water bowl, doggy towel, dog treats, and a dog-friendly guide to the area, and in the bar area there are more doggy water bowls, plus a barman who keeps a special stash of complimentary dog biscuits! There is also a dog-friendly beer garden outside, and a dedicated dog wash station that's perfect for cleaning your pooch after walking him or her on the country trails. Rates for the Summer Lodge 'Pampered Pooch' package start at $357 per night, based on a Superior Room shared with one dog. Rates at The Acorn Inn start at $126 per night, plus $15 per dog per night.
