Marriott International today announced the signing of Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort on the western tip of Flores Island, Indonesia. The resort will be a gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Komodo National Park, which is home to the infamous Komodo dragons as well as an abundance of exotic flora and fauna.
With a footprint of more than 1,100 hotels worldwide, Courtyard by Marriott continues to establish a presence in emerging tourist destinations, giving trailblazing guests access to unchartered locations and new cultural experiences that enable them to pursue their personal passions.
The upcoming Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort is scheduled to open in 2021. Meanwhile, enhanced infrastructure is currently underway with construction of a new marina port set to be the main arrival and docking spot for yachts and traditional Indonesian phinisi sailboats. Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort will become an integral part of this new development, adding a dynamic rhythm to the town through the intuitive and inviting hospitality guests have come to expect from the international brand.
“Indonesia continues to be an exciting growth market for Marriott International and this resort shows our potential to use the Courtyard brand in establishing our presence in emerging destinations,” said Paul Foskey, Chief Development Officer Asia-Pacific, Marriott International.
“Labuan Bajo is home to diverse marine life and is listed as one of the ten destinations in the Indonesian government's tourism development plan. This is a very opportune time to team up with Marriott International in opening the Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort,” said Lana Jong, Chairwoman. PT. Terra Komodo Bakti.
Situated on a hill surrounded by lush vegetation facing a magnificent view of the ocean, the new Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort will provide a total of 158 guestrooms and suites, all designed with modern classic interior featuring local elements. Guests can stay in one of the King Rooms or Double Rooms with private balconies, or turn the Suites or Presidential Suite into their private holiday home.
Delicious culinary highlights will please every palate. The all-day dining restaurant, Momo Café, will present an authentic buffet spread from a semi-open kitchen set up and live cooking stations. The Courtyard Lounge and Fish Bar by the pool will serve refreshing drinks for an excellent tropical getaway. Guests who are always on the go can simply grab their favorite light bites at The Market before exploring the satellite islands of Labuan Bajo.
Courtyard Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort's main swimming pool will also feature a whirlpool which makes it the ultimate relaxation spot. The resort will also have a separate pool dedicated for families with kids allowing a more peaceful retreat for other guests. The Courtyard Kid's Club with its signature Treehouse will also keep the little ones entertained with adventures. A fully-equipped fitness center will enable guests to maintain their fitness routines. Meanwhile, meeting spaces will be ready to host business conferences and other special occasions.
“The upcoming resort will be a game changer to our existing pipeline in Indonesia. Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort will become a premier holiday destination for both domestic holidaymakers and international travelers,” said Robert Stark, Area Vice President for Indonesia, Marriott International.
At Courtyard by Marriott Labuan Bajo Komodo Resort, everyone can enjoy an idyllic island escape. The resort will be located less than 10 minutes away from Komodo Airport, the existing Kantor UPP Kelas III Labuan Bajo Port, as well as downtown where travelers will find numerous charming cafes, restaurants and diving schools. The Komodo National Park, where visitors can spot the world-renowned Komodo dragons, and Manta Point, a popular snorkel and dive spot famed for Manta sightings, are both within an hour away by speedboat. Guests longing for some inland adventure can go on an 80-minute ride to the heavenly Cunca Rami Waterfalls or take an intrepid seven-hour drive to Wae Rebo, a Manggaraian ethnic village that is nestled at an altitude of 1,125 meters above sea level.
