Madrid's newest 5-star luxury hotel VP Plaza de España Design has officially opened Gingko Sky Bar; a glamorous 12th floor oasis located in the heart of the Spanish capital offering panoramic vistas over the Spanish Royal Palace, Debod Temple and the city surrounds.
With an unbeatable location in Plaza de España, Gingko Restaurant and Sky Bar offers a spectacular terrace with 360º views of the city, an outdoor swimming pool, an exquisite restaurant serving contemporary Spanish cuisine, and a fully-soundproofed late-night bar with an extensive list of wines and cocktails, as well as live music.
Open to guests of the hotel and the general public*, the Sky Bar features a contemporary design with strong geometric patterns and vertical gardens; a core element of the VP Hotels' portfolio. The floor to ceiling windows of the restaurant offer the ideal vantage point for enjoying Madrid's dramatic sunsets and the outdoor terrace provides a relaxed and privileged setting to enjoy Madrid's long summer days.
Showcasing the best of Spanish cuisine, starters include octopus carpaccio, fried artichokes and Jamón Iberico served with exquisite pan con tomate, whilst mains range from line-caught baby squid served with wok-fried vegetables, turbot with mushrooms and truffled vinaigrette to Galician sirloin with roasted piquillo peppers or a terrine of oxtail and foie.
Cocktail connoisseurs will not be disappointed with an extensive cocktail list including classics such as Mojitos, original Moscow Mules, Shanghai Cosmopolitans, Daquiris and Negroni 72s, as well as house specials such as 'Passion Bubbles' made from Bombay Sapphire, lime juice and passion fruit hibiscus tonic or 'Daquiri of the Rising Sun' featuring Bacardi rum, yuza juice, ginger jelly and egg white.
The pool and sundeck are exclusively for guests of the hotel and provide the perfect place to cool off after a day exploring the Spanish capital. The glass bottom of the swimming pool leads to the central design element of the hotel; a 25m metallic waterfall sculpture created by Catalan artist Pere Gifre, tumbling from the bottom of the swimming pool to the ground floor of the hotel.
Music plays a central role at Gingko Sky Bar with jazz sessions each Wednesday from 10 pm, and DJ sets every Thursday to Saturday from 11 pm. Sundays offer a more chilled out musical atmosphere with a live band performing a whole range of musical genres on request.
During the World Cup, Gingko Restaurant and Sky Bar offers the ideal place to support the Spanish national team with big screens and a special menu.
The 12th floor brings a new proposition to the Spanish capital and is set to become a meeting place for both Madrid residents and international guests.
Double rooms at VP Plaza España are priced from €220 on a room-only basis. Breakfast is an additional €29 per person.
Gingko Sky Bar opens every day from Sunday to Wednesday 12:00 - 2:00 am / Thursday to Saturday 12:00 - 4:00 am.
