Representing a $15 million investment in the Redcliffe Peninsula, a sunset cocktail party for 80 guests was held to commemorate this latest hotel addition to the AccorHotels stable of properties. Valued clients, dignitaries and business partners enjoyed a night of Champagne and gourmet canapés to celebrate.

The Sebel's Executive Chef, Steve Bestwick and his team designed a gourmet canapé menu for the occasion featuring local culinary highlights, while a live oyster shucking buffet proved popular with guests.

The ceremonious cutting of the ribbon was conducted by Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland in a wonderful close to the official formalities.

Guests were entertained by modern-day poet Rupert McCall with his tribute to the Redcliffe Peninsula entitled The Boy on the Bridge returns which pays tribute to the Redcliffe kid who grew up fishing on the old Hornibrook Bridge - wondering what lay on the other side. There was this curious perception that, to taste the excitement and take on the challenge of the wider world, you had to leave the Peninsula, cross that bridge and get amongst it.

The evening was a celebration of the glorious history and culture of the location, with the hotel's interior designer Siobhan Gomes McNabb bringing to life local history by utilising a mix of bold, graphic and nostalgic art works to create an authentic yet contemporary hospitality experience in the 58 guest rooms.

The new Sebel blends old with industrial chic new – think exposed brick walls, concrete ceilings and timber floors dedicated to boho and luxe room themes.

The hotel's piece de resistance is its rooftop pool and bar on the 5th level complete with shady cabanas and sweeping views over Moreton Bay.
