New Film Campaign Promotes North Norfolk as 'Natural' Choice for a Holiday

Visit North Norfolk

Visit North Norfolk, the official commissioned partner of North Norfolk District Council, is launching a digital marketing campaign featuring ten short films promoting north Norfolk to visitors. The eleven-month campaign, North Norfolk, Naturally, running from June 2018, features ten new thirty second films focussing on the unique aspects of north Norfolk. The campaign has been funded by North Norfolk District Council and local business sponsorship.

Cllr Nigel Dixon, North Norfolk District Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Business and Tourism, said: “The value of tourism to the north Norfolk economy is enormous. We have backed this campaign because it is an excellent platform to promote the wide range of tourism businesses which add so much variety to the widely renowned 'natural' attractions of North Norfolk.

“The Economic Impact of Tourism report told us that 8,308,500 trips were made to the District in a year, generating an expenditure of £403,569,250. Campaigns such as this are a crucial part of extending that success.”

The first film, which launches the campaign, is called 'Discover Unique North Norfolk' and reveals what makes north Norfolk a unique destination to visit; the Cromer Chalk Reef, Blue Flag and award-winning beaches, Deep History Coast, dark skies and The Broads National Park. Each subsequent film will promote specific areas of interest including: history and heritage, arts and culture, family holidays, nature and wildlife, walking and cycling, food and drink, towns and villages, coast and beaches and adventure and activity holidays.

A film, relevant to the time of year, will be promoted monthly through a targeted digital campaign using #northnorfolknaturally, on Facebook, Instagram and digital adverts, highlighting north Norfolk as an all-year round destination. The films will also be promoted on the Britain is GREAT website (britainisgreat.com), which is run in association with tourist boards and destinations across the country, bringing visitors an insight into the UK through films.

Kayla Dunne, Brand Manager of Visit North Norfolk, commented: “The campaign aims to encourage potential visitors to consider north Norfolk as the natural holiday destination choice by highlighting its wonderful attributes and showing there is something for everyone, all year-round. We wanted to highlight the area's natural capital as well as show that north Norfolk is the natural choice for a holiday. The role of the films is to showcase north Norfolk to audiences who have maybe not considered coming here or can be tempted back again! There are people who would love to come here once they know that we have more Blue Flag beaches than any other District, we boast some of the darkest skies in England, we have the most wonderful local produce or that our coastline is ideal for surfers. And of course, it is also the 50th anniversary of the Norfolk Coast Area of Natural Beauty this year.”

Alongside campaign funding from North Norfolk District Council, local businesses also offered their support with sponsorship; sponsors include Norfolk Hideaways (title sponsor), The Holkham Estate, The Grove in Cromer and Norfolk Trails.

Helen Millin, Chief Executive Officer of Norfolk Hideaways, campaign title sponsors, commented on their support for the campaign: “We were delighted to sponsor Visit North Norfolk's campaign, as we understand as a business, how important it is for us, and all businesses in the area, to promote north Norfolk as the natural choice for a holiday.  Throughout the year, our coast and countryside are a delight for any visitor, and the North Norfolk, Naturally campaign showcases this lovely part of England beautifully. As north Norfolk's largest boutique holiday cottage agency, we were thrilled to support our local destination management organisation to help tell even more people about our wonderful area.”

“There is no doubt that increasing numbers of people are staying home this year and choosing shorter, more last minute holidays, in a bid to save money and explore what is literally on their doorstep.  The convenience of being only 2 ½ hours from London, 2 hours from the home counties and 1 ½ hours from Lincoln, makes it easy to nip to Norfolk.”

The films can be seen on www.visitnorthnorfolk.com.
