On Wednesday 25th April 2018, specialist tour operator Inghams Lakes & Mountains launched its Summer 2019 Preview Brochure, which includes the finest walking, cycling and sightseeing holidays. The launch coincides with the start of National Walking Month on 1st May 2018.
Inghams Lakes & Mountains is considered the walking holiday experts and, with free guided walks in selected resorts, highly recommended trails and routes, and free or reduced travel on local transport*, many of the destinations featured in Inghams' new brochure have been chosen specifically with walkers in mind. Out of over 100 resorts, cities and tours that showcase some of Europe's top destinations, below are the highlights from the new brochure:
ULVIK, NORWAY
Lying in a sheltered bay of the spectacular Hardangerfjord, which is known as the Orchard of Norway due to its plentiful fruit trees, Ulvik boasts breathtaking scenery and offers a great choice for walkers: walk to a local farm to sample delicious produce, wander through meadows full of wild flowers, and explore 'the real Norway' via its vast network of well-marked trails.
Inghams also offers a guided walking programme to help guests truly discover the region. Organised by the Inghams in-resort Representative and payable locally, guests can join, for example, a moderate half-day walk to Jonstøl through summer pastures, with the opportunity to stop off at a fruit farm on the way home for some local refreshment (programme subject to availability, weather and minimum numbers). For those staying seven nights or more, a FREE Ulvik town historic walk (normally £10 per person) is available. Inghams also offers a FREE Hardangerfjord walking booklet per booking.
Prices in Norway are frozen at Summer 2018 prices until 30th September 2018! Inghams is offering a three-night holiday on a half board basis at the four-star Brakanes Hotel in Ulvik, Norway, from £728 per person based on two sharing in July 2019. Price includes return flights and airport transfers. To book, visit www.inghams.co.uk/summer2019 or call 01483 791 116.
ZERMATT, SWITZERLAND
Surrounded by some of Europe's highest mountains - the Matterhorn, Dom and Monte Rosa - and their dazzling glaciers, Zermatt is a charming, traffic-free village with some amazing walking opportunities. Its excellent network of mountain trains and cable cars makes access to the higher trails easy, made even easier by the Peak Pass, which offers unlimited use of many of Zermatt's mountain lifts from £155 per person for six days (available to pre-book with Inghams). Popular walks include the Matterhorn Trail, which runs from Schwarzsee lake through meadows and across the Grand Dixence Dam, and a circular route that crosses the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge: the award-winning Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge. At a total length of 494m, it takes 10 minutes to walk across the bridge, which is only 65cm wide and hangs a whopping 85m off the ground at its highest point.
Inghams guests who book before 30th September 2018 will receive a FREE walking map of the area. Also included in the price of an Inghams Swiss holiday is the Discount Travel Card (worth nearly £100), which entitles guests to up to a 50% reduction on most of the Swiss Transport network, including all mainline railways, many regular public bus routes, most lake ferries, and many cable cars and mountain trains.
Prices in Switzerland are frozen at Summer 2018 prices until 30th September 2018! Inghams is offering a seven-night holiday on a bed and breakfast basis at the four-star Hotel Rex Garni in Zermatt, Switzerland, from £859 per person based on two sharing in June 2019. Price includes return flights and airport transfers. To book, visit www.inghams.co.uk/summer2019 or call 01483 791 116.
KRANJSKA GORA, SLOVENIA
Kranjska Gora lies in the north western corner of Slovenia, on the doorstep of Triglav National Park, and offers over 100km of hiking trails. The village is surrounded by the magnificent Julian Alps, which are a hiker's paradise with meadows, valleys, gorges, waterfalls and hamlets inviting walkers of all abilities to discover them. For some of the most beautiful scenery imaginable, a visit to Lake Jasna is a must. The moderate route can be explored on the Inghams guided walking programme (payable locally, subject to availability, weather and minimum numbers) and it takes guests through the woods and meadows behind Kranjska Gora, passing Lake Jasna, then follows the mountain river Pisnica to a mountain hut for a pleasant stop. Another option is the Martiljek Peaks & Waterfall trail, a panoramic walk to nearby Spik Waterfall and the gorge under Mount Spik, referred to as the Matterhorn of Slovenia.
Inghams is offering a seven-night holiday on a half board basis at the four-star Hotel Kompas in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, from £639 per person based on two sharing in June 2019. Price includes return flights and airport transfers. To book, visit www.inghams.co.uk/summer2019 or call 01483 791 116.
