Award-Winning Cruise Ship Bed Heading to the UK

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises has been awarded the highest ranking for best onboard beds by the Cruise Critic website. The site made the commendation to Princess' new 'luxury bed', which is being added to all staterooms across the line's fleet.

Cruise Critic has six million visitors per month and is the largest global cruise review website.

Cruise Critic stated Princess has 'the ultimate bed to catch the eye and comfort the body. From the pillows to the box spring, each of the 10 components of these beds was carefully constructed for maximum comfort. Plus, the fibres used are organic and sustainable, and the foam is naturally derived.'

The bed was created exclusively for the line and includes fine linens, enhanced mattress support and a king-size deluxe pillow available with feathers or anti-allergy microfibre. Princess collaborated on the bed with Dr. Michael Breus, a board-certified sleep expert and WebMD consultant.

It is currently being introduced on the 2,670-guest Sapphire Princess, which recently completed an extensive two-week refit. The ship, which sails out of Southampton this year and next, will have the new bed added to every stateroom by June 2018.

Several other enhancements were added during the refit including upgrades to the spa and treatment rooms.

Sapphire Princess has now departed Singapore for the UK and will sail roundtrip out of Southampton from May to October in 2018 followed by a slightly longer season from April to October in 2019. A variety of voyages are on offer, largely to the Mediterranean and northern Europe, as well as a 24-day Canada & New England voyage in 2019.

Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises' vice president UK and Europe, said: “We're confident our luxury bed offers the best night's sleep at sea and we're delighted to see this recognised.  After a day of exploring, or just taking it easy, our guests can look forward to a night in an 'award winning' bed to leave them raring to go for the next day of their holiday.”

Princess Cruises is offering a 14-night Land of the Midnight Sun cruise, roundtrip from Southampton, on Sapphire Princess from £1,199 per person*. Departing Saturday June 23, 2018, ports of call include Stavanger, Skjolden/Sognefjord, Hellesylt, Geiranger, Trondheim, Honningsvag (North Cape), Tromso, Gravdal (Lofoten Islands), Alesund and Bergen.
