W Taipei's WOOBAR is officially back and is ready to lead Taipei's innovative cocktail culture to the next level with its restyled, refreshed and reenergized bar design and programs. To continue with the property's design narrative of “Nature Electrified”, W Taipei collaborated with G.A Design from United Kingdom again, to amp the narrative a notch higher, presenting “Electrified Nature”.
To bring “Electrified Nature” to life, the new WOOBAR features woodcraft floor, leather furniture and brass metal decoration for that raw edginess. The bar is flanked at one end by a green ceramic wall with traditional Koji Pottery technique (traditional Taiwanese pottery with colored glaze) along with a fireplace, and at the other end above the VIP booth with Green Petals. The giant geometric art installation is designed by Studio Sawada Design from Japan and made completely of green-colored paper, representing nature in all its glory. The refreshed WOOBAR also features a new DJ console and state-of-the-art sound system.
Alongside its revamp, W Taipei is also partnering Justin, Yu-Ying Chou, the first Taiwanese designer who has presented at 2017 New York Fashion Week to design WOOBAR talents' attire. Inspired by the idea of an “urban campsite”, Justin used camp fire, square knots, and various nature colors - green, yellow, caramel amber, navy blue, black and red to design stylish working attires to showcase the fashion DNA of W brand.
Besides interior and fashion design, let's not forget the essential elements of a great bar: cocktail culture. W Taipei's Chief Mixologist Alex Lee created “WHAT THE FOUR”, a selection of four cocktails that link to the theme “Electrified Nature”. “FIRE” is inspired by campfire, using different spices and smoked fragrance to stimulate taste buds; “FUN” represents the W brand's bold and fun lifestyle. For “FRESH”, Alex uses various local fruits such as wax apples, dragon fruits, mangos to freshen up your day; and “FOREST” brings out the elegant herbal flavors and use thyme, lavender, chrysanthemum and more herbs and flowers to showcase refined cocktail presentation.
To celebrate the restyled WOOBAR, a brand new food menu curated by W Taipei Executive Chef Joshua Marshall and Sous Chef Stone Hsu is also presented. Including “Sous vide BBQ beef short rib slider”, “Chili marinated chicken quesadilla”, “El diablo hot dog” and Taiwanese gourmet “Grandma's lou rou fan” (braised pork rice with foie gras) and “Formosa niu rou mien” (beef boodle soup).
