With the recent announcement from Destination NSW (DNSW) that more than 4.3 million visitors chose to go on a NSW hiking holiday in 2016 there's never been a better time to head to Inland Waters Holiday Parks (IWHP) Burrinjuck Waters for an outdoors experience on the Hume & Hovell Track.

As outlined by DNSW CEO Sandra Chipchase, the state is home to some of the most stunning coastal and inland trails in Australia, with the Hume & Hovell Track a true standout for hiking enthusiasts.

IWHP Burrinjuck Waters Manager Dean Brind said his park was the perfect place to set up your campsite whilst adventuring on the 425km trek, with a particularly beautiful section of the track running 5km north from the park to the idyllic Burrinjuck Nature Reserve.

“The Hume & Hovell Track follows the route originally taken by explorers Hamilton Hume and William Hovell on their famous 1824 trek to Port Phillip and is a key attraction for guests visiting the area,” Dean said.

“Our park is marked as night two for hikers walking the trail from its starting point at Cooma Cottage and we are always excited to greet these formidable adventurers, providing them with plenty of food and refreshments to fuel them up before they move on to their next stage of the Hume & Hovell.

“The recent arrival of our tourist vessel, NV Getaway, also provides a vital link for hikers to cross Burrinjuck Dam and reach the next stage of their trip and the scenic locality of Wee Jasper.”

The Hume & Hovell Track's Manager Felicity Middleton called the trek a truly unique adventure, one which gives keen hikers a truly special opportunity to take a trip through time and walk in the shoes of two of Australia's most lauded historical figures.

“The scenery and views found whilst walking the trail are absolutely spectacular and you are guaranteed to see an abundance of native wildlife throughout your hike,” Felicity said.
