The spectacular light installations of Vivid Sydney and unique scenery of regional NSW will be broadcast to three million viewers across Southern California when number one local news network KTLA showcases content from the world's largest festival of light, music, and ideas.
The broadcast visit by KTLA's Entertainment Anchor Sam Rubin features the very best of NSW, including Vivid Sydney, Bondi Beach and regional destinations such as the Hunter Valley and Central Coast.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said NSW welcomed the broadcast visit during Vivid Sydney.
“Sydney is a city that shines all year–round, and especially so during Vivid Sydney when the city comes alive. Some of the activities Sam and the KTLA crew will feature include sailing on Sydney Harbour, the Vivid Sydney BridgeClimb, learning to surf on iconic Bondi Beach and food and wine experiences in the Hunter Valley and on the Central Coast north of Sydney,” Ms Chipchase said.
“We also planned a special preview of the NCAA College Football Sydney Cup, which is returning to Sydney for the second time on 27 August 2017, with Stanford University (Stanford Cardinal) taking on Rice University (Rice Owls),” she said.
The broadcast, secured by the NSW Government's major events and tourism agency Destination NSW in partnership with American Airlines and Springboard Vacations will air on KTLA Morning News in early June.
The USA is the second largest source market of visitors to NSW with more than 426,000 visitors travelling to the state from the USA in the year ending December 2016. These visitors stayed 5.2 million nights providing a $750 million boost to the local economy. (Source: International Visitor Survey, YE Dec 16, Tourism Research Australia (TRA))
