This 3-bedroom cottage makes for a perfect peaceful get-away for canoeing, exploring or just enjoying the sound of the waves lapping against the dock. Bala Boathouse costs from £1,679 per week.

Alternatively, Wanderlust is a 7-bedroom modern luxury 'cottage' on Lake Muskoka.
