Hotel Galvez & Spa Renovates Bathrooms in Guest Rooms
Hotel Galvez & Spa has completed a $1.8 million renovation of all 224 guest bathrooms. All guest bathrooms from the second through fifth floors had a makeover with new decorative shower surrounds, fixtures, tile floors, paint and artwork as well as bedding.

Hotel Galvez and The Tremont House Offer Cold-Brewed Coffee
Coffee lovers can now experience cold-brewed pick-me-ups and hand-crafted caffeinated cocktails from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Galvez Bar & Grill at Hotel Galvez & Spa and at The Tremont House' 1888 Toujouse Bar. The hotels are working with Houston roasting company Katz Coffee for its coffee beans. Wyndham Grand's Brew Parlor is centered on cold-brewed coffee, an artisanal yet approachable trending drink consisting of coffee brewed for eight to ten hours with cold or room-temperature water, producing a condensed, smooth, and full flavor.


What Hotel Galvez is Known For

Hotel Galvez Ghost Tour Dinners Always a Sellout
Fascinated by ghosts? Hotel Galvez & Spa invites guests to learn more about the paranormal during its monthly “Dinner with the Ghosts” tour and dinner event. During hotel's one-hour ghost tour, the Hotel Galvez concierge guides guests through the hotel's ghostly past using popular ghost hunting tools to conduct a paranormal investigation. Guests learn about the hotel's “Ghost Bride” and other reported strange occurrences. The tour is scheduled the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. and is followed by a three-course dinner at Galvez Bar & Grill at 7 p.m. The cost for the tour and dinner package is $56 per person (inclusive of tax and server gratuity). In addition to the tour and dinner event, the hotel also offers a “Dinner with the Ghosts” overnight package. During the month of October, tours are offered Tuesday through Friday with Friday only available as part of an overnight package. A second tour is added on the second Wednesday of the month during the busy season.

Sunday Brunch at Hotel Galvez
Sunday Brunch at Hotel Galvez is a longstanding tradition for locals and visitors. Brunch is served weekly from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features a full menu of traditional and seasonal items. Guests enjoy a wide array of fruits and pastries, soups, salads, seafood display, traditional and seasonal entrees along with side dishes, carving station, made-to-order omelets and pasta bar and a huge selection of desserts. Guests won't leave hungry. Advance reservations are always recommended and available via Open Table or by calling (409) 765-7721.

Hotel Galvez Shares History through Hall of History and Free Audio Tour
Hotel Galvez & Spa shares its history through a permanent exhibit called the Hall of History. The Hall of History provides a brief history on the hotel and tourism in Galveston via a display featuring various items and informational panels including famous guests.

Hotel Galvez also touts its history and ghost stories through a free multimedia tour app for iPhone and Android smartphones. The free app provides a 25-minute history tour and a 20-minute ghost tour with scrollable images, numeric keypad entry and a keyword search function. The tour was produced by Acoustiguide Inc. (Espro Acoustiguide Group).

Bathing Beauties and Wedded Bliss Kicks Off Summer at Hotel Galvez
The 9th annual Galveston Island Beach Revue, scheduled in May and presented by Hotel Galvez & Spa®, is Galveston's official kick-off to summer. The Beach Revue is free to the public and offers a weekend of vintage inspired events headlined by the Bathing Beauties Contest. Picture forty lovely ladies all donning vintage cocktail attire and swimwear.

The Galveston Island Beach Revue is held the third weekend in May. New this year is a speakeasy themed event at Galvez Bar & Grill at Hotel Galvez on Friday night featuring the Dandy Wellington Band from New York City. The crowd pleaser Bathing Beauty Contest is held Saturday at Beach Central, located adjacent to the Hotel Galvez & Spa®.

Hotel Galvez has been the top choice for couples for 100 years and in celebration of this tradition, the hotel hosts an annual wedding vow renewal ceremony in June. This historic hotel hosted its first group ceremony in conjunction with its centennial anniversary in 2011 and the hotel decided to make it an annual event. In celebration of the hotel's anniversary and the most popular month for weddings, Hotel Galvez invites couples to renew their vows during a mass ceremony on the hotel grounds on the second Saturday in June at 10 a.m. Couples have the option to stay for the weekend and enjoy a getaway package that includes champagne upon arrival and souvenir champagne glasses.

Hotel Galvez Hosts Annual City of Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration
Hotel Galvez & Spa hosts its annual Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 6:00 p.m. The City of Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration is an annual, free family event and marks the start of the official holiday season in Galveston and features performances from The Nutcracker, a hand bell choir and area carolers. The Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration begins with the arrival of Santa Claus by horse-drawn carriage, followed by the lighting of the hotel's 35-foot Christmas tree with a count-down led by Santa Claus and a city representative.
