August 29, 2016 - The San Francisco Travel Association has changed its web domain to www.sftravel.com.  It was previously www.sanfrancisco.travel.

San Francisco Travel Director of Web Services Louis Raphael said the changes provide multiple benefits.  “The dot-com extension is more authoritative, places higher in online searches and eliminates any confusion from users who might not understand that we are a destination marketing organization and not a travel agency,” he explained.

Email addresses for the organization have also changed in format to “first name@sftravel.com.”  For example, the address for Laurie Armstrong, director of media relations, U.S. and Canada, is now laurie@sftravel.com.   In instances where there is more than one employee with the same first name, the first initial of the last name will be included in the address.

"Why change something that seems so essential to our brand?  Simple - to make our brand even stronger. Our new domain is shorter and easier to remember,” said San Francisco Travel President and CEO Joe D'Alessandro.  “We changed our emails to the more accessible format because it better reflects our open company culture and inclusive San Francisco values,” he added.

Messages to the previous email addresses and visitors to the former domain will be automatically redirected to the new addresses for an interim period.
