Enjoy the Samoëns Ski Season With a Stay at Villa Rose

Villa Rose

Villa Rose, a five-room boutique hotel in the pretty market town of Samoëns in the heart of the Grand Massif, offers luxury accommodation that is uniquely flexible, allowing skiers – from experts to complete beginners – to enjoy the area's variety of pistes for every ability.

Bookings at Villa Rose can be made for bed and breakfast; half board; or as an exclusive serviced villa rental, making it ideal for couples, groups of friends or families looking for a stylish place to stay within easy access of the skiing and the multitude of other outdoor activities and events available the local area.

A refreshing alternative to its better-known Alpine cousins, the Samoëns ski area enjoys snow coverage throughout the season and boasts one of the largest beginners' areas in Europe, the Samoëns 1600 plateau.  Guests at Villa Rose can make the most of the resort's excellent skiing facilities by using the Villa's in-house ski and snowboard service to hire equipment and arrange passes. Guests also have the use of a dedicated ski entrance and ski room, with ski storage and boot warmers.

The Samoëns 1600 plateau is easily accessed by an eight-minute gondola ride from the village centre, where Villa Rose is located, while skiers and snowboarders looking for more challenging terrain can take their pick from the 265km of pistes accessible from the town. For those wanting to explore the Grand Massif without skiing or boarding, there is a huge range of winter sports to choose from. From snowshoeing to skijoring, paraskiing to ice climbing, there really is something for everyone. Villa Rose's manager Selina Cockx will happily help arrange any of these activities and more.

In January 2016, Villa Rose is hosting a Ski and Wine Week from the 15 to 22, which coincides with the Samoëns Winegrowers' Week and local ski school ZigZag Ski's five-day ski camp. The hotel's head chef Daniel Bearcroft will create special menus that will be paired with French wines and the Villa will round off the week with a fun and informal wine tasting.  From the 22 to 28, Villa Rose is hosting a Ski Yoga week and offering guests who book a week's half board accommodation a complimentary pre- or après-ski yoga session each day. This offer runs alongside ZigZag Ski's second ski camp of the month, which will offer people of all abilities the chance to learn new skills in groups tailored to their abilities, making it appropriate for single travellers, couples and families or groups of friends.

Spread over four floors, Villa Rose has four en-suite bedrooms and one two-bedroom suite, each of which has been individually decorated with luxury and comfort in mind. The villa has a stunning sunroom overlooking the garden and its light-filled Salon offers comfortable seating, a large flat screen Apple TV, a selection of board games and films and a log fire, making it the perfect place to relax.  The Villa's brand new and incredibly inviting Jacuzzi is also certain to prove popular with all guests!

An ancient village famed for its stonemasons, Samoëns is the only French alpine resort classified as a national heritage site. Its beautiful, traffic-free square, lined with stone and timber buildings, are full of ski boutiques and specialist shops and the town hosts a typical Savoyard market each Wednesday, which is a 'must do' for foodies. The large ice rink that opened last autumn is a popular spot and the town hosts a programme of events throughout the year, such as photography exhibitions and music recitals.
