Note to Editors: A conversion of one of Newcastle's finest residential buildings, Jesmond Dene House is an independently owned hotel set in a leafy area of the city, five minutes to the north of the centre and 15 minutes from Newcastle International Airport. The hotel is an ideal base when exploring the exciting and cosmopolitan quayside city that Newcastle has become. The property is also a haven for nature lovers as it overlooks an enchanting stream known as the Ouseburn, as well as the spacious wooded and unique valley of Jesmond Dene. Families, dog walkers and joggers alike enjoy this expansive space where otters can be seen amidst the tumbling waterfalls, crags and pools with a keen eye perhaps spotting a king fisher! Jesmond Dene itself was created and left to the enjoyment of the local community by resident Tyneside industrialist William George Armstrong (1810-1900) and now boasts within the woodlands, clearings for a cricket pitch and pavilion as well as a child's petting zoo and facilities such as a coffee shop, conference centre and restaurant.
