Congham Hall Hotel (01485 600250; www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk) is offering a refreshed setting for intimate weddings this winter.
The hotel has recently refurbished its Writing Room, a favourite choice for small wedding ceremonies, able to hold up to 25 when followed by a buffet, or 18 with a seated meal. The room has been re-imagined in deep aubergine, graced with Kernow fabrics bearing a delicate pattern of scattered ferns from the new Zoffany collection.
For the wedding night, Congham Hall has just unveiled a romantic honeymoon suite, Dandelion, with its own sitting room and private balcony overlooking the gardens. The love nest, which has a free-standing Kurv bath in the bedroom, is decorated in shades of teal, with Larkhall wallpaper in a soft-coloured damask by Colefax and Walker, and flowing silk curtains.
The Georgian mansion, set in 30 acres of parkland, provides a beautiful rural backdrop for a wedding and is available for exclusive hire in the winter months, October to March. Guests will be assisted by Congham's dedicated wedding co-ordinator, who can also offer advice about local suppliers for everything from flowers to entertainment.
Larger gatherings can take place in the light, airy Restaurant, which is lined with full-length windows leading to terraces overlooking the grounds. This room can be exclusively booked for the ceremony and a buffet or seated meal for up to 100.
The Writing Room costs £350 between 10am and midnight. The Restaurant costs £750 between 12pm and 5.30pm. The honeymoon suite costs £379 per night, including dinner and breakfast or £300 room- only. Catering packages cost from £54.95 per person and include a contribution to one night's accommodation for the married couple on their first anniversary.
Parties wishing to accommodate guests overnight can hire Congham Hall and its 26 bedrooms for 24 hours, costing from £12,000. The price includes breakfast and guests will have access to The Secret Garden Spa, which features a 12-metre swimming pool, thermal suite, and full-service spa with treatments by Elemental Herbology available to purchase.

Relaunched in May 2013, the 26-room Congham Hall Hotel sits in 30 acres of parkland, including orchards and its renowned Herb Garden, which has 400-plus varieties and attracts visitors from far and wide. The modernised, 2 AA Rosette, bistro-style restaurant features much homegrown produce on its menu and benefits from a sophisticated bar.
Congham Hall offers five-star service at three-star prices, in stylish but relaxed surroundings. It won Best Hotel in the East at the Best Loved Hotels Awards 2015, and has been recognised several times by the Eastern Daily Press/VisitNorfolk.co.uk Tourism Awards, winning Best Adult Leisure Break in 2015 and Best Independent Hotel in 2013. Congham Hall was also named Best Small Hotel in the UK at the International Hotel Awards in November 2012.
Nicholas Dickinson and his team took over Congham Hall in March 2012. The hotel relaunched in May 2013 after completing the last phase of a major refurbishment. Nicholas has spent his entire working life in the luxury hotel business. Early on, he worked at the five-star country-house hotel Chewton Glen and Raymond Blanc's two-Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. In 1994, Nicholas formed a partnership with Nigel Chapman, who had developed Woolley Grange in Wiltshire. Together, they created Luxury Family Hotels, which soon became the market leader in the UK for luxury family short breaks, and Alias Hotels, for the stylish mid-market corporate and leisure sectors. Both groups were successfully sold, and Nicholas and Nigel went on to develop Martinhal Resort on Portugal's Algarve. This is Nicholas's first independent hotel project.
