Experience Mor

Experience Môr, the Pembrokeshire luxury holiday hideaway specialist, will be introducing a new cottage to its collection this summer: a delightful coastal stone longhouse, Penmynydd Uchaf, located midway between Fishguard and Newport in West Wales. This three-bedroom 'house in the hills' will be the company's eighth property and is destined to become one of their flagships. With uninterrupted panoramic sea views to Dinas Head and Fishguard, it is set in the most peaceful and quiet surroundings you can imagine. Amidst almost five acres of land and some 900ft above sea level - prices for a week's rental start from £780 per week (sleeps up to 7).

Previously a private home, this is the first time that Penmynydd Uchaf will be available as a holiday  let. Jonathan Heron from Experience Môr is undertaking a comprehensive renovation project, with fresh decoration and furnishings throughout. This new cottage is just an 8-minute drive (2.4 miles) from the picturesque village of Cwm-yr-Eglwys, with its beautiful sand-and-shingle beach, while the village of Dinas Cross and the fabulous 1.5-mile long stretch of Newport Sands is only minutes away.

Summer 2016 availablity!

Penmynydd Uchaf, approached by half a mile of private gravel drive, has a fenced and gated garden, making it a joy for dog owners and energetic children. It will be available from early July this year, making it one of the very few coastal properties with sea views that still has peak 2016 summer availability - perfect for last-minute holiday bookings!

The longhouse sleeps up to seven in three bedrooms (two doubles with kingsize beds, and one bunk plus an additional single). It has a large open-plan living area with an old stone fireplace and wood burner, a kitchen with a large dining table seating up to 8, and two bathrooms. Despite its transformation into a luxurious yet practical holiday home, this perfect holiday haven oozes character and comfort with its charming original features having been retained. Its impressive eco-credentials, and other special touches including a living herb trough, a bird feeding station, a beautiful children's rocking horse, and of course Experience Mor's hallmark original local artwork throughout.

Each room combines locally-sourced antiques with modern quality pieces. The kitchen is fitted out with a Rangemaster cooker and double-fronted American fridge/freezer with ice maker. The sitting room is fully equipped with every mod con including a widescreen TV, Sound Bar, Sky Sports and a Blu-Ray DVD player.

In every direction, there are plenty of gorgeous coves and unique pubs to explore. The Old Sailors, a shack-like building just a few miles away, serves fresh crab sandwiches and local ale, and Dinas Cross has a couple of great-value pubs and a good village shop. And, with so much privacy and private lawns surrounding the property, along with Pembrokeshire dry stone walls, days at the house can be spent soaking up the views and the glorious sunsets looking west towards the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.

Newport, just a four-mile drive away, is particularly popular for shopping and eating, with its award-winning butcher's shop T.G. Davies & Sons and the wide variety of eateries such as Llys Meddyg, The Golden Lion and The Canteen, most of which are dog-friendly and welcome families for both lunch and dinner.

Prices start from £780 (sleeps 7) for a week long break, going up to £2295 during peak season.

Editors Notes:

History of Penmynydd Uchaf

This house has quite a history. In 1983 it was the home of the leaders of  “Operation Seal Bay”, one of the largest drug-running operations ever to be busted in the UK. Neighbouring farmer Arwel Phillips recalls police chasing the owners from Penmynydd Uchaf over his fields before they were finally arrested!

Experience Môr

With môr meaning sea in Welsh, the collection's name uses a play on words communicating the close proximity of all their cottages to the coast. There is a strong ethos of offering thoughtful extra touches, such as living herb troughs, bird tables with bird feeders and bird food, beautiful children's rocking horses, and extra-generous locally-sourced welcome packs. Other features include beach trollies - perfect for transporting all the usual paraphernalia down to the sands, cookery books in every kitchen for culinary explorations, and fenced and gated gardens for families and dog owners.

Privately Owned

All the properties are privately-owned by founder Jonathan Heron, who is based in Pembrokeshire and personally manages the operation along with his dedicated team. This enables guests to book direct, with access to the best prices and immediate availability as well as detailed information on each property, thus avoiding the need to go through a third party or a more remote agency. The Experience Môr team can arrange a whole host of extras for guests including: fresh seafood deliveries, river fishing licences with experienced ghillies, surfing lessons, boating trips, or simply insider tips on the best local shops, pubs and restaurants to visit.  For that very special occasion they can even hire a chef to cater for your every need!

Green Key Award for Eco-Credentials

All the Experience Môr properties have been specifically set up with impressive eco-credentials,  great care having been taken to ensure that each property is as kind to the surrounding environment as possible. So much so that they are the first holiday cottage operator in the UK to be awarded the Green Key (www.greenkey.org.uk) accreditation last year.
