WinStar Convention Center set to open summer 2016

Facility includes grand ballroom, meeting spaces and more

THACKERVILLE, OKLAHOMA – WinStar World Casino and Resort will usher in a new era of event hosting with the WinStar Convention Center.

Located off Interstate 35 just north of the Oklahoma-Texas border, the new convention center will give businesses and organizations first-class accommodations for events, meetings, conventions, trainings and more. 

"This new convention center is designed to meet the specific needs associated with conferences and conventions," Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby said during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the center. "We believe this new facility will increase the already significant economic impact WinStar has on the local community and the Chickasaw Nation because it will attract businesses and other organizations across the United States looking for a new venue for this type of event. This increased revenue provides funding for healthcare, education, housing and other services to help fulfill our mission of enhancing the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people."

The 65,000-square-foot, multi-purpose convention center is located at the southeast corner of the casino, with direct access into the casino and WinStar's entertainment venue, the Global Event Center.

This newest amenity and expansion of services will create a total of 50 new jobs at WinStar. Twenty will be WinStar employees and 30 will be Traditions Spirits employees.

• The center will house 23,000 square feet of functional space and a 15,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom.

• The Grand Ballroom is equipped with a flexible wall system to host events of varying sizes. The grand ballroom has a seating capacity of up to 1,000 guests.

• The convention center also houses a Junior Ballroom and three executive boardrooms for meetings. The junior ballroom has seating for up to 700 people and has a flexible wall system to accommodate groups of different sizes.

• A 12,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art banquet kitchen is on site and allows companies to have their events catered. The kitchen is designed to cook a variety of meals from hot dogs and BBQ to high-end, nine-course meals. 

• The new meeting and ballroom spaces are equipped with advanced, network-based ADA compliant audio, high-definition video and lighting systems with wireless control ability.

• There are rigging attachment points in the ceiling to allow hanging of draperies, scenery, supplementary lighting and speakers and image displays that will suit many different types of events.

• Construction of the facility will be complete in summer 2016. The architects at Rees Associates out of Oklahoma City spent hours designing the facility. Manhattan Construction Group managed the construction of the building from start to finish.
