It's one of the UK's most popular staycation locations, boasting as it does over 30 accessible beaches, 5 of them Blue Flag, stately homes and Royal Estates, award winning restaurants and more, but North Norfolk has some exciting new and lesser known attractions for those wanting to do something a little different this summer.
Here, Norfolk Hideaways, the leading boutique holiday home provider and itself an award winner, has searched for what it thinks are weird and wonderful activities the whole family can enjoy.
Alpaca trekking, bee keeping, zorbing, chocolate making, snail racing and more. Read on to find out how you can make this your most action packed holiday yet.

Alpaca Trekking, Wells-next-the-Sea
The Inca Trail it is not, but for those wanting to have a truly unique coastal adventure, exploring the countryside and beach by Alpaca ticks all the boxes for family fun. Choose treks of between 1 and four hours and you'll not only see the coast at a leisurely pace but get to have fun with the animals, too. More kid friendly than Lllamas (who have a tendency to kick and spit), choose from any of the authentically named beasts, Machu, Picchu, Pedro, Pepe (you get the idea). For shorter treks, bring an apple to reward the herd, or picnic for longer excursions. Price from £28 per hour for a group of 3. For more information, click on alpacatrekking.co.uk

Snail Racing in Congham
The village of Congham in Norfolk may have few claims to international fame but, surrounded as it is by salt marshes, a favoured breeding gastropod ground, it is home to that most thrilling of sports, the World Snail-Racing Championships. The rules are simple: snails are placed in a small red circle in the middle of a round table and the first to make it to the outside ring is claimed the winner. The time to beat? 2 minutes, 20 seconds, a world record established here in 1995 by 'Archie'. According to organiser, Neil Riseborough, “preparation..is quite important, you know, train it, but don't over train it, feed it propertly, diet is always important as with any athletic process.” Lettuce leaves and loudhailers to the ready, the gastropod games slime off on 16th July. Punch and Judy, balloon modelling, juggling workshops and more. At £35 for a family ticket, it's affordable, too. Visit davenportsmagickingdom.co.uk for more.
