RAC members will now save when they holiday in the Margaret River region, with RAC announcing its acquisition of Busselton's BIG4 Peppermint Park.

RAC Executive General Manager Brand and Tourism Tony Pickworth said this acquisition builds on RAC's goal to provide its members with good quality holiday accommodation in key tourism destinations around Western Australia.

“The plan is to provide a range of consistent, reliable quality accommodation options for our members, to encourage Western Australians to holiday in their own backyard,” Mr Pickworth said.

“RAC is excited to invest in such an iconic location with the aim of boosting local tourism and encouraging more Western Australians to holiday at home."

BIG4 Peppermint Park has won the Tourism Council WA Gold Award three years running, putting it in the Tourism Council WA Hall of Fame.

The holiday park joins other iconic WA locations in the RAC Parks and Resorts family, including Ningaloo Reef Resort, RAC Exmouth Cape Holiday Park, RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort and Pinnacles Holiday Park.

“As part of the new ownership, the name of the park will change from Big4 Peppermint Park to RAC Busselton Holiday Park, and RAC members will receive up to 20 per cent discount on cabins and sites,” Mr Pickworth said.

“As a mutual organisation, the RAC continues to evolve both its member benefits and services to meet the needs of more than 840,000 members across Western Australia.”

CEO of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association Pip Close confirmed the change was quite a coup for the region.

"As a predominantly self-drive destination, we are really pleased that a
well-known brand such as the RAC sees the growth in the region and it's a win for industry and consumers.'

'They have been visionary in bringing the electric highway to the south west, with four charging stations in Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and Augusta, so this acquisition brings with it innovation for region.'

'The RAC have been a consistent supporter of local tourism in encouraging West Australians to holiday at home, and recent statistics have revealed that more and more are choosing to do so particularly here in the Margaret River region, and we are very grateful to have their support."
