Congham Hall Hotel

The final phase of the refurbishment of Congham Hall Hotel (01485 600250; www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk) in Norfolk is now under way, with the refreshed rooms available to book from Easter.

Ten of the 26 guest rooms are being redecorated in keeping with the rest of the hotel, which was relaunched by the current management in 2013. A contemporary palette will complement the manor house's classic Georgian assets, including feature wallpapers by Jane Churchill, paint by Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, fabrics by Sanderson and Zoffany, luxurious Wilton carpets, and elegant illuminations supplied by Jim Lawrence Lighting.

The highlight will be Dandelion, a new honeymoon suite with its own sitting room and private balcony overlooking the parkland. Currently being restored as a sumptuous love nest in shades of teal, the suite will feature a free-standing Kurv bath in the bedroom, Larkhall wallpaper in a soft-coloured damask by Colefax and Walker, and flowing silk curtains.

The Writing Room, which is available for meetings, events, private dinners and wedding celebrations, is also being re-imagined in deep aubergine, with Kernow fabrics in a delicate pattern of scattered ferns from the new Zoffany collection.

Congham Hall is offering a special Easter package, including three nights' dinner, bed and breakfast, tea with hot cross buns on arrival, a bird of prey display, a visit from the Easter bunny and egg hunt, and an Easter bonnet parade with prizes. From £350 to £545 per adult, based on two sharing; children stay free in their parents' room with their meals charged as taken.

Relaunched in May 2013, the 26-room Congham Hall Hotel sits in 30 acres of parkland, including orchards and its renowned Herb Garden, which has 400-plus varieties and attracts visitors from far and wide. The modernised, 2 AA Rosette, bistro-style restaurant features much homegrown produce on its menu, and now benefits from a sophisticated new bar.

Congham Hall offers five-star service at three-star prices, in stylish but relaxed surroundings. The hotel won Best Small Hotel in the UK at the International Hotel Awards in November 2012 and Best Independent Hotel at the Eastern Daily Press/VisitNorfolk.co.uk Tourism Awards in November 2013.

Nicholas Dickinson and his team took over Congham Hall in March 2012. The hotel relaunched in May 2013 after completing the last phase of a major refurbishment. Nicholas has spent his entire working life in the luxury hotel business. Early on, he worked at the five-star country-house hotel Chewton Glen and Raymond Blanc's two-Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. In 1994, Nicholas formed a partnership with Nigel Chapman, who had developed Woolley Grange in Wiltshire. Together, they created Luxury Family Hotels, which soon became the market leader in the UK for luxury family short breaks, and Alias Hotels, for the stylish mid-market corporate and leisure sectors. Both groups were successfully sold, and Nicholas and Nigel went on to develop Martinhal Resort on Portugal's Algarve. This is Nicholas's first independent hotel project.
