Meriski (01285 648518;www.meriski.co.uk) is encouraging guests to make the most of their snow-time this season by offering a choice of challenging yet fun activities led by the best expert guides in the 3 Vallées.
The luxury-catered-chalet operator in Méribel has hand-picked highly qualified, professional guides to offer an array of Mountain Experiences, including off-piste powder adventures by snowshoe, cross-country skiing, ski-touring, telemarking and even target-shooting. The aim is to enable guests to feel more confident and to maximise their enjoyment of the Alps, as well as to expand the menu of activities on offer to guests who do not wish take part in Alpine skiing.
“We've expanded our concierge service to put guests in touch with the best instructors in the 3 Vallées for their preferred activities,” says Colin Mathews, founder of Meriski. “We know our guests have a great time off the slopes in our luxurious chalets; now we're turning our attention to ensuring they have a fantastic experience on the mountain, too.”
Meriski will offer guests one-to-one advice either by telephone or email on who should lead their choice of activity, and will make the bookings on their behalf.
Meanwhile, Meriski has unveiled plans to hold a Mountain Experience Week from 10-17 April. This end-of-the-season “digestif” will allow guests to sample the full selection of snow activities on offer through the company's expanded concierge service. At the time of booking their chalet stay, guests will be able to take a pick-and-mix approach, choosing in advance which activities they would like to try.
The snow sessions, which will vary in length and price depending on group size and the number of activities selected, will include snow-shoeing up to a mountain refuge to enjoy a typical Savoyard meal and learning cross-country skiing with some of the best guides in the 3 Vallées. Prices will start from £50 per person, based on a group of six people cross-country skiing.
Pre-holiday ski fitness programmes are also available through Meriski's new link-up with extreme sports athlete and coach Silas Cullen.
Meriski currently has good availability in its chalets for the week beginning 10 April and an end-of-season holiday offers great value. Chalet Bellevue, for example, is the perfect base for the Mountain Experience Week, with excellent facilities including an outdoor hot tub, sauna and a south-west-facing terrace on which to enjoy the spring sunshine. One week costs from £600 per person, reduced from £820, based on 10 people sharing. The five-bedroom property is available on a shared-chalet or exclusive basis.
All Meriski holidays include accommodation, breakfast and afternoon tea daily, sparkling wine and canapés and four-course dinner to 2 AA Rosette standard on six nights, as well as all wine, beer and soft drinks, the services of chalet staff and an in-resort chauffeur from 8am to 10pm. It can now also arrange airport transfers, which cost from €95pp return from Geneva, based on eight people sharing. The cost of the transfer may be subject to change during peak weeks.
