Tailor made family travel operator, Stubborn Mule, has just added Indonesia to its 20 country strong portfolio.
"It's one of South East Asia's least explored countries but, as the world's fourth most populated country stretching over 17,000 islands, one that boasts incredible diversity, ideal for the family traveller," says Liddy Pleasants, founder of Stubborn Mule.
Whilst Stubborn Mule's sample 15 day itinerary includes the main highlights of Java and Bali, such as climbing Mount Bromo, guided tours of Borobudur, Prambanan and Tala Lot temples and a visit to the UNESCO Heritage rice terraces, there's some unusual inclusions for adventurous families, too.
Spend two nights on a spice plantation in Kalibaru, snorkel in Gawana Bay, its pristine waters making it the best place to do so in Bali and, the highlight of the trip, eat dinner with Balinese royalty.
Here's more about Stubborn Mule's sample 15 day itinerary to Indonesia:
Borobudur: A guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Site, Borobudur, a 9th century Buddhist monument, followed by a cycle ride into surrounding countryside.
Yogyakarta: to explore the Palace, see how batik is made, take a becak ride with a local guide to the bustling food stalls of Jala Mallioboro and enjoy a guided tour of Prambanan Temple complex before watching the Ramayana Ballet.
Mount Bromo: Climbing the active volcano at sunrise.
Kalibaru: Staying on a spice plantation for two nights, paddling in the river, cycling around the countryside, wandering through the plantation or relaxing by the pool.
Gawana Bay, Bali: Located in the north east of Bali, you can go snorkelling to Menjangan Island, a protected marine park offering the island's best snorkelling and diving.
Ubud: The cultural centre of Bali and one of the island's most iconic landscapes, you'll visit Puru Ulun Danu temple, Jatiluwih, a World Heritage Site where farmers have carved rice paddies out of the near vertical mountains and spend the day choosing ingredients from the local market before learning how to make your own Balinese dish under the guidance of a local chef.
Sanur: Tanah Lot Temple, one of the most photographed temples in the world, perched on a barren outcrop and completely surrounded by ocean. You'll spend the night having dinner in the private residence of one of the royal families from the old kingdom of Bali, with a Princess cooking and serving a delicious range of royal dishes.
Stubborn Mule's 15 day sample itinerary costs from £9,500 for a family of four, including flights.
