Tipple Tails is Highly Commended at Yorkshire's White Rose Awards

Tipple Tails

The Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards, the largest celebration of tourism excellence in the UK, announced the winners last night at a glittering ceremony at Leeds First Direct Arena. Tipple Tails was among the Yorkshire businesses recognised and rewarded, scooping a Highly Commended award for the Taste of Yorkshire Category.

Tipple Tails were shortlisted after a rigorous independent judging process, chaired by Colin Mellors, Pro-Vice Chancellor of York University and including Elaine Lemm, Food Writer, Nicola Furbisher, Yorkshire Post Managing Editor and customer experience expert Mark Bradley. Six weeks of mystery shopping followed, with the awards finally being decided after the judging panel spent a further challenging day deciding on the winners.

Tipple Tails was given a Highly Commended award for their continual efforts to support Yorkshire businesses by sourcing as many of their ingredients as possible from Yorkshire, and for the care and attention they give to package their cakes so beautifully.

“We are very proud of our Yorkshire roots,” said Jane Stammers, Head Cook & Bottle Washer, Tipple Tails, “and are committed to our communities and our strong relationships with local producers and retailers. We source all of our quality ingredients from a network of local businesses, keeping money in the local economy and encouraging sustainability and local employment, so it is fantastic to receive such a well-respected accolade from Welcome to Yorkshire.”

“Tipple Tails is 'Yorkshire speak' for head over heels or bend over backwards to do something and at Tipple Tails, my philosophy is to do things really well, so it is fabulous to receive recognition for this,” added Jane.

About Jane

Jane Stammers trained as a Home Economist at Birmingham College of Food and worked in marketing and sales for Zanussi (The Appliance of Science) for many years, developing and promoting oven ranges through cookery demonstrations, writing cookery books and liaising with customers. She moved to Sheffield ten years ago, trained in horticulture at Sheffield College, and worked for the National Trust at Clumber Park in the kitchen garden for a while, becoming very involved in everything food, especially locally produced! Jane spent four and a half years working as a Project Manager on the Lottery funded Making Local Food Work project in a partnership of six organisations http://www.makinglocalfoodwork.co.uk; her role was to develop a toolkit for members of the national co-operative Country Markets to enable them to sell their homemade food products into retail outlets. During that time Jane was also a producer for Sheffield Country Market, which is held in the Broomhill suburb of Sheffield every Saturday morning, making all sorts of products but especially Yorkshire Teacakes, Yorkshire Curd Tarts, 'Well baked Puddings' (her version of the Bakewell Pudding) and at Christmas a very popular Christmas Cake.

The project came to an end at the end of June 2012 so, with lots of encouragement from husband George and family and friends, Jane decided to practice what she had been preaching and set up her own foodie business selling her popular, delicious fruit cake.
