About Vietti Winery:
The Vietti winery is one of the most prestigious and outstanding wineries in Piedmont, Italy. It is located in the medieval village of Castiglione Falleto, the heart of Piedmont's “Langhe” wine region.
The Vietti family's winemaking history can be traced back to the 19th century. In the 1950s Alfredo Currado, Luciana Vietti's husband, propelled Vietti to become one of the finest producers of wine in Piedmont, and arguably in Italy. Four generations after the first Vietti wine, the Vietti family includes the Currado's and Cordero's, who in the fifth generation continue the innovative and skillful winemaking legacy envisioned by Mario Vietti in the early 20th century.
The history of the Vietti winery traces its roots back to the early 20th Century. Patriarch Mario Vietti, started to made the first Vietti wines in 1919, selling most of the production in Italy.
In 1952, Alfredo Currado (Luciana Vietti's husband) continued to produce high quality wines from their own vineyards and also purchased grapes. The Vietti winery grew to become one of the top-level producers in Piedmont. Alfredo was also one of the first to select and vinify grapes from single vineyards.
Since 1974 select Vietti wine bottles have been dressed with specially-designed original artwork (lithographs, xylographies, etchings, silkscreens, linocuts) inspired by the wine of that particular vintage. The print run is the same as the number of bottles produced, and the first hundred labels are signed by the Artist. Each work is only used once, just for the wine of that vintage, thus creating unique wines for both wine and art lovers and collectors.
