Koh Samui, Thailand — W Retreat Koh Samui shakes up the summertime in Koh Samui with SPF #Shockwave Summer Series, a weeklong celebration of art, music and gastronomy, from July 27th to August 1st, 2015.

W Retreat Koh Samui kicks off the summer with #shockwave, a festival of events to celebrate W's passion for art, music and gastronomy. The week begins with W Retreat Koh Samui hosting the island's first ever 3-Michelin Star chef dinners at W Beach, on July 27th and 28th. Guests will be taken on an elevated gastronomical journey, featuring awe-inspiring creations by Chef Jacob Jan Boerma from three-Michelin-Star restaurant, De Leest in the Netherlands. Chef Boerma has also invited celebrated mixologist, Guillermo Gonzalez, the leader of the merry pranksters behind the bar at 'Hiding in Plain Sight' Amsterdam, to pair his innovative cocktails to the menu he has crafted, for a truly unique experience.

On July 30th from 4pm at WOOBAR, W Retreat Koh Samui will be hosting our very first DJ Masterclass with Jared Simms, DJ and label boss of My Favorite Robot. Sharing his tips and secrets, Jared will give our guests an insight into the techniques and skills required to become an international DJ.

From 6pm onwards, Simms, together with Kelly Kellam, W Retreat Koh Samui's Music Curator, will be behind the decks during Mo-Hee-Toe Madness, our regular Thursday night party where guests can enjoy a free-flow of our 10 signature Mo-Hee-Toes all night long.

For the final night of the SPF #Shockwave summer series at WOOBAR, August 1st, 6pm onwards, W Retreat Koh Samui will host a party with performances unlike anything Koh Samui has ever seen. Showcasing various provocative forms of interactive art, music, design, dance and film, the event will feature Dots & Clouds together with Kelly Kellam, W Music Curator, are producing an incredible evening of live street graffiti art by Alex Face, performance art & dance by AIR, an incredible interactive video projection art installation by Andrei Jewell, and top tier international DJs as the sound track. We will be taking it one step further and including the world's best traditional tatau bamboo tattoo artist Tikiroa, of TIki Tattoo's, Koh Phangan will be doing some pieces at this #Shockwave event.  This will be no ordinary dance party.

Entry to #Shockwave is 500THB per person inclusive of a welcome cocktail; free entry for ladies! Private VIP seating in WOOBAR's iconic “pods” will be pre-sold at 20,000THB per pod for up to 10 people inclusive of a bottle of Ciroc vodka with free mixers or a Magnum of Veuve Clicquot.
