Naturally, guests coming on the special want to witness this spectacular ancient ritual dating back to the time of dinosaurs. Rosalie Bay's sea turtle program, founded by resort owner Beverly Deikel, has successfully reversed a likely extinction of endangered Leatherback, Green and Hawksbill sea turtles on Dominica. Within a decade, the nests for these turtles on Rosalie Bay's black sand beach grew substantially from a low of seven per year to more than 80 a season.

The program lets guests get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures. Guests can be right next to 800-pound turtles crawling ashore and nesting, hold new hatchlings smaller than a baby's footprint and help them with their first journey to the sea. Discounted daily rates begin at $175 per night for two, plus tax and service charge.
