Amina Elshafei, Top 12 Finalist on Masterchef 2012 and one of the most popular contestants of the Masterchef series will embark on her own personal food journey of Korea from this Saturday, 25 April, 2015. Fans will be able to follow her journey as she writes and posts photos of her experiences on her website Amina's Alchemy, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Amina's visit is sponsored by Korea Tourism Organization and she will spend ten days in Korea on a culinary adventure travelling from Seoul to Jeonju to Busan discovering her mother's heritage as well as enjoying all aspects of Korean cuisine from local markets to street food to a royal feast.

Amina Elshafei has recently launched her own cookbook of Korean and Egyptian cuisine titled 'Amina's Home Cooking'.  Growing up in a household with an Egyptian father and Korean mother Amina learnt to cook many Korean specialities from her mother. 

Amina will enjoy many aspects of Korean cuisine including taking a kimchi making class. Kimchi is Korea's most iconic food and served with every meal. In Seoul she will enjoy a visit to the Noryangjin Fish Market as well as Gwangjang Market, a popular market with locals for its great street food.  Amina will then travel to Jeonju to visit the 400 year old Jeonju Hanok Village (traditional houses) and experience Jeonju royal cuisine as well as Jeonju bibimbap (rice with mixed vegetables) which is known as the best bibimbap in the country.

Whilst in Seoul there will also be time for Amina to visit the lovely Changdeok Royal Palace in downtown Seoul, take a city walking tour of Bukchon Hanok Village (traditional houses), walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream which runs through the centre of Seoul as well as visit Seoul's many art galleries, museums, markets and stores.

She will also travel to Busan in the south east corner of the country to see one of Asia's largest fish markets Jagalchi and enjoy the tempting street foods at Gukje market.  She will also have the chance to enjoy a visit to the beautiful Yonggungsa Temple by the sea and shop at the largest shopping centre in Asia.
