I have been a travel writer and videographer specialising in sustainable tourism for 20 years. I was previously the eco travel correspondent for the Guardian and editor of National Geographic GREEN magazine, and have been running my own website greentraveller.co.uk since 2006. As well as filming and writing articles I also commission other freelancers to produce content about eco and sustainable travel, and have compiled over 50 green travel guides to destinations. I am currently writing a series of features on sustainable travel in Switzerland for National Geographic and am gearing up to write a lot more articles this year as I have written a book - The Green Traveller, to be published in May 2022 by HarperCollins. I have also recently re-launched a newsletter all about green travel in the news and welcome information about new hotel openings, visitor attractions - all focused on the sustainability theme.

In the summer of 2025 I have launched a new podcast — It's a Journey: A sustainable travel podcast that I'm co-hosting with sustainable travel expert and writer Holly Tuppen. The series is for those that work in the travel and tourism industry, and dives into the future of sustainable travel through candid conversations with leading voices across the industry as well as guests from other sectors.
