April won two Gold Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition Awards, best newspaper feature in Visit California's Eureka Travel Writing Awards, and best American travel destination article in U.S. Travel Association's IPW Travel Writer Awards. April has also won two awards in the SATW Muster Photo Competition and was named TravMedia Journalist of the Year at ONE Travel. Recently April was honored to be included among Pico Iyer, Isabel Allende, and Tim Cahill in Geographic Expeditions' anthology, The Best of Wanderlust: Tales of Wonder & Connection.
